Academic and Research Technologies and Relationship Management
Providing academic and research systems that enable effective learning and research. Relationship management and support provided through the information technology SBAs (strategic business advisors).
Provides certain finance, human resources and research administrative services. This includes: service desk, contact centre, payroll administration, payments, purchasing and contract specialist, employee lifecycle, property and leasing management, data processing, travel and expenses, process improvement, operation analysis, and metrics and reporting.
Providing residence, retail, parking, culinary, and protective services in support of the university and the student experience.
Managing the university’s financial life cycle and providing strategic support for decision makers including: financial planning, budgeting, financial forecasting, variance analysis, financial reporting, external audit, strategic investment management, tax strategy, and financial SBA (strategic business advisor) training and support.
Designing and establishing employee and labour relations strategies in support of the overall goals of the university and providing strategic support, specialist advice, and subject matter expertise for employee relations. This includes: labour relations, employee relations, and faculty labour relations.
Enterprise Architecture and Integration
Leading and managing foundational information technology including: secure network access, identity services, management and security of the physical spaces, reporting and data systems, power and environmental systems, building control systems, protective services technology, and university computing resources behind all major IT applications and communication services.
Optimizing purchasing activities through scale and vendor relationship management to ensure effective use of resources including: procurement advisory services, strategic sourcing, category management, contract management, facilities, information technology, consumer services, and purchasing services.
Enterprise Project Management Office
Facilitating collaborative, transparent and timely projects including: program and project management, project governance, resource management, centralized intake and prioritization, guiding the workforce through change, and alignment of processes and organization objectives.
Providing and supporting a single, streamlined systems environment that includes: web and collaboration systems, database services, and administration systems for University Relations, student, facilities, HR, finance, Consumer Services, and research.
Facilities and Relationship Management
Facilities is responsible for the maintenance, operation, and preservation of the university’s facilities ensuring the safety and comfort of faculty, staff and students. This includes: The Heating Plant, Trades and Skilled Laborers, Custodial and Grounds operations, Locksmith Shop, and many other staff and groups working together to serve the needs of the campus community. Relationship Management ensures consistent, client-focused operations across the Services portfolio, and translates ‘business requirements’ into functional approaches and supporting solutions development. This includes: service relationships, Relationship Management consultants, and Strategic Business Advisors within Facilities.
Providing oversight to financial resource allocation and utilization including: organizational finance, cash management, liquidity and risk, banking administration, financial transactions, asset and liability management, tax operations, compliance and internal controls, finance systems, and grant and contract financial management.
Infrastructure Planning and Land Development
Providing knowledge and strategy around capital projects, enabling access to opportunities while ensuring the overall sustainability of operations. This includes: planning and development, capital and investment planning, developing/maintaining strategic partnerships, sustainability/environmental, land and space planning, real estate management, property and leasing management, land development, real estate business opportunities.
IT Security, Risk and Compliance
Ensuring information technology security standards and policies, including: architecture, risk assessment and legislative compliance (e.g., PCI, FIPPA).
IT Support Services
Providing information technology services and support, including access to use technology resources (e.g., notebooks, projectors, software), technical support and training, implementation and technical support for classroom, multimedia spaces and devices, and continuous process improvement.
Ensuring customer centricity across the People and Resources portfolio, translating business requirements into functional approaches and supporting solutions development. This includes: human resources SBAs (strategic business advisors) and relationship management.
Talent Management and Strategic Enablement
Providing talent management strategies, talent development frameworks, and culture change models at an institutional level. This includes: end-to-end talent management; immigration and global mobility; equity, diversity, and inclusion; organizational development, change management, and leadership development. Strategic consulting and supporting culture shifts is an important part of the work of this team.
Designing, maintaining and optimizing the university’s employee value proposition to effectively support the attraction, engagement and well-being of faculty and staff. This includes: compensation, benefits, pensions, wellness, events and recognition.
